Old Testament Survey provides a clear and comprehensive introduction to the books, history, major events, people, themes, and message of the Old Testament. Students will explore how the Old Testament reveals Godβs character, covenant, purposes, and plan of redemption while preparing the way for the coming of Jesus Christ.

This course provides a clear and practical overview of the Old Testament. Students will explore the major books, people, events, covenants, themes, and Godβs redemptive plan throughout the Old Testament.
What You Will Learn
By completing this course, students will gain a broad understanding of the Old Testament and its place within the overall story of Scripture.
Students will become familiar with the major divisions and books of the Old Testament and understand their historical and biblical context.
Students will study important people and events, including creation, the patriarchs, the Exodus, the giving of the Law, Israelβs conquest of the Promised Land, the period of the judges, the monarchy, the divided kingdom, exile, and restoration.
Students will understand major Old Testament themes such as creation, covenant, holiness, worship, sacrifice, faith, obedience, judgment, mercy, redemption, and restoration.
Students will examine the roles and messages of the Old Testament prophets and understand their calls to repentance, faithfulness, justice, and hope.
Students will learn how the historical, poetic, wisdom, and prophetic books contribute to the message of the Old Testament.
Students will recognize important promises and expectations concerning the Messiah and understand how the Old Testament prepares the foundation for the New Testament.
By the end of the course, students will have a stronger framework for reading, interpreting, and applying the Old Testament and for continuing more advanced biblical and ministry studies.
