The Plans of the Wicked Cannot Prevail

A Promise to Hold On To
Please remember this truth: you are a child of God, and no weapon formed against you will ultimately prosper. Even when it seems like your enemies have succeeded and their plans have caused you suffering, rejoice because God is not finished. He is always working behind the scenes with a greater purpose that may not be visible now, but will be revealed in time.
Joseph’s Journey: From Favor to Betrayal
The story of Joseph, found in Genesis 37–50, is a powerful example of how God’s sovereign hand works through pain, betrayal, and injustice to bring about redemption and purpose. Joseph, dearly loved by his father Jacob, was hated by his brothers out of jealousy. They plotted to kill him but instead sold him into slavery—intending evil, but unknowingly setting the stage for God’s greater plan.
Faithfulness in Slavery and Prison
Though Joseph became a slave in Egypt and was later falsely accused and thrown into prison, God was with him at every step. The ability to interpret dreams, given to him by God, was part of the divine plan, preparing Joseph for a moment that would change everything. While in prison, he interpreted dreams for Pharaoh’s officials, which eventually led to him standing before Pharaoh himself.
From the Pit to the Palace
Because of this God-given gift, Joseph was raised from the depths of prison to become the second most powerful man in Egypt. He oversaw the nation’s resources and prepared for a devastating famine, ultimately saving countless lives—including those of his own family.
Forgiveness Over Revenge
When Joseph finally reunited with the very brothers who betrayed him, he did not seek revenge. Instead, he extended forgiveness and spoke these profound words:
“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive” (Genesis 50:20).
This verse encapsulates the heart of God’s providence—His power to transform human evil into divine purpose.
A Foreshadowing of Christ
Joseph’s life foreshadows Jesus Christ in many ways: he was rejected by his own, suffered unjustly, yet became the vessel of salvation. His journey teaches us to trust in God’s timing, endure trials with faith, and offer grace to those who wrong us.
No Suffering Is Wasted
In Joseph’s story, we see that no suffering is wasted in God’s hands. What feels like abandonment is often preparation. What looks like defeat may be the doorway to your destiny.
Let his life remind you: God is always working—even in the darkest places to bring about His perfect plan.
