Why He Will Not Share His Praise With Idols or Any Other

The Scriptures clearly teach that God will never share His glory with another, for His glory is unique, eternal, and unmatched. In Isaiah 42:8, God declares, “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another nor my praise to idols.” This is not merely a statement of authority but a revelation of His nature. God alone is the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Redeemer. Every act of power, mercy, and salvation flows from Him alone, and therefore all glory rightfully belongs to Him.

Because of this, God does not allow idol worship. Idols are powerless creations of human hands—objects that cannot speak, save, or guide. They steal the devotion and honor that belong exclusively to the living God. Throughout Scripture, God warns His people not to bow before carved images or false gods because doing so is both spiritually destructive and a direct violation of His holiness. Idolatry attempts to exchange the glory of the incorruptible God for something corruptible, temporary, and empty.

God also guards His glory because it reflects His perfect character. His glory reveals His righteousness, His love, His faithfulness, and His unmatched majesty. To give His glory to another would deny who He is. This is why He alone is worthy of all praise, all honor, and all awe. No human achievement, no earthly power, and no false god can compare with the Lord who created the universe and holds all things together.

Therefore, worship belongs to God alone. He calls His people to give Him the glory due His name—to lift up His greatness, to honor His holiness, and to stand in awe of His power. When we worship Him alone, we align our hearts with truth and give Him the reverence that He alone deserves.
